    About Me

I am currently on disability due to BiPolar disorder...I am a Registered Nurse, but obviously not working at the current time. I am a married mother of 3. I have been treated for BiPolar disorder for about 8 years and I would very much like to learn some non-pharmaceutical coping techniques. I am also diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes which has recently been extremely high. I have started new medications and a more strict diet plan to hopefully delay the need for insulin.

    • Close Bipolar Disorder

I have been Bipolar since I was in my early teens. After a tragic event in my life at age 30, all the symptoms returned with a vengence. I am currently on disability due to the severity of the symptoms.

      Treatments

      Abilify Not Working
Had absolutely no effectiveness whatso ever.
      Ativan Working / Worked
Works well when I must go somewhere or do something that is extemely stressful so as not to induce mania
      Depakote Working / Worked
Works well Keeps the rapid cycling under control
      Lamictal Not Working
Wonderfully sedating too much so most of the time
      Lithium Not Working
Had to stop taking this due to the gastric problems that it caused
      Seroquel Working / Worked
Awesome!! This one is the only one that has kept the psychosis that comes on due to the mania in control...I just started the new XR version today. I will post the results in my journal.
      Wellbutrin Working / Worked
Great for the depression and helped with my smoking too.
      Zyprexa Not Working
Extremely sedating and due to the diabetic issues I had to stop taking this one.
    • Close Diabetes Type 2

I developed diabetes with all my pregnancies. I then was diagnosed with "full time" diabetes (Type 2) when I was 29. Within the last few months, my blood sugars have been in the astronomical range. Never less than 300 and frequently over 500. I have had a medication overhaul and have changed my diet drastically to try to stave off the inevitable use of insulin. I have a strong family history of diabetes. I hope to find better ways to keep my glucose levels under control.

      Treatments

      Amaryl Working / Worked
      Taking 4mg Once a day.
      Metformin Working / Worked
      Taking 1000mg Twice a Day
    • Open Bereavement
      Type: Loss of a Sibling

My brother died 4 years ago, at the age of 37. He was buried on what would have been his 38th birthday. He had a massive heart attack. Now my sister has died at the age of 44 due to complications of having multiple sclerosis. I cant even imagine I have enough of me left to mourn them and also watch my parents go thru the hell they go thru. I try to be strong for them but feel guilty for not crying enough now.

      Treatments

      Not yet
