I have been having a really tough 7 months..My husband has been off work since June 11th/2007..with this disease he suffers..Hidradenitis Suppurativia..He is in a worse case..( Stage 3)..He lives with chronic pain daily..

He can no longer perform his normal duties at work..so he took a medical leave of absence..From June 11 to now..we rarely go anywhere except back and forth to the doctor's office..Our life is mainly lived close to home and  close to the bed for him..

March 10th-He went for surgery under his left armpit..the surgeon removed as much of the diseased area as possible..It was a deep wound..but becasue of staff shortages they sent him home that day..Instead of packing the wound..they tried this new medtod..Vac Machine..where they put this black sponge all across the wound and then attach a suction cup to the black sponge and the vac is turned on..where all the drainage goes to a cannister..

Within 4 to 5 days he had developed an Infection..and landed in the hospital..being hooked up to IV and they were pumping loads of antibiotics into his system to rid him of  the iinfection...while in the hospital also of course these sponges had to be changed every 2 days..The 4th day..was horrible.. before they started to remove the sponge they gave him a painkiller..and they started the procedure..they started at 10:30 a.m. and ..7hrs later and 30 mg. of morphine and 2 shots of a needle full of siomething in a lower dosage tto an anesetic..they  finally removed all of the sponge, my husband broke down and cried and cried in such severe pain and screamed as loud as I have ever heard him scream....

The doctor finally said No more Vac machine..and Homecare comes to our home daily to change the dressings....

He will be off of work for 2 more months...In meantime..He is trying to apply for long term disability..Life is extremely trying..

For anyone that wishes to read about my husbands..disease..please read...
