    About Me

FYI to all my DS friends: As much as I appreciate the wonderful sentiments in many of the FWD emails that are out there, I do not have the energy, nor can I keep track of who sent, rec'ved, etc., them. Please understand that I WILL NOT be responding to these types of messages from you. This does not in any way mean I don't like you or am upset with you. You may send them as long as you realize I will not pass them on. I'm 48 and have a whole litany of medical problems, including asthma, diabetes, fibromyalgia and IBS. My faith and my loved ones are what sees me through. I have a bratty but loved female cat named Tyler and I live with two wonderful friends, a married couple. I just started selling Watkins Products, have not worked a normal job in 8 years! BizbyDeb.com is my business site. If you can give out catalogs and send email, it might be the business for you too!

    Interests

My hobbies are reading, writing and website building. I sing with a womens barbershop chorus and just finished a 2 year term as pres. of our group.

    • I’m With You

      From galed7956 June 15

I am trying to get into low income housing and have the space I need. I also have my own business and it's a good one but I have to sell really good products and I'm not into pushing products that are good as far as not hurting the earth and also that work. It's sort of like selling Avon products without the bad stuff in it with the added plus of them being shipped to the house and not me delivering them. The products work but I am going to buy them for me so I don't have to shop for the stuff. They sell household cleaners, laundry detergent, personal products, vitamins and supplements, some snacks, etc. I have tried their things and they work besides not having all the dangerous chemicals in them. I had an order in Januray but alas ended up in the hospital for the entire month. Where you live and who you live with sounds great. It's also great that you get along so well. I only have one cat and that's Tangie. She's my baby (literally). She is a pure bred Persian and that breed loves a lot of attention and loving. They are not play cats but mostly affection craving cats. They only pick one owner that they attach themselves to and that was me. You have cats and I bet you have one at least that you would consider "yours". I am going to live alone but I finally hopefully found an agency that will be there to help me with my check book, grocery shopping, etc. I have to fill out some papers and such so that they can help me. I have a lot of legal stuff to go through also. I don't know how much longer I am going to be around but as usual I have a battle ahead of me and I am stuck handling it. I figure now I should be enjoying life but I don't think that's possible now anymore. I just talked to an aquaintence that had to divorce the mother of his children because she has brain cancer and got him and his children in trouble because of all the bills that were incurred because of her illness. He was almost in tears when he told me that he had to divorce her. People like you and I are lucky and have others. My Mother is the only one I have left besides a couple of people who aren't related to me. She is going to be 85 and fell last week. I have to have space so that I don't do that again myself. I need to get around in that wheelchair because I don't have any feeling from the waist down. I hate to leave her but I have to or else there's going to be a competition between her and me as to who does themselves in by falling, etc. I will be about a mile away from her so I can call and also visit alot. She also has to learn to take care of herself. It's a long and lousy story. Well I am glad that you got in touch with me and am glad to yak back and forth anytime. If you ever need to talk send me a message and I'll get back to you. LOL galed7956

It's really hard to exercise when you have flare ups and so little energy. I just try to take the longer path, or get up to change the channel instead of the remote control. Little things can add up. I hope you reach your goal! Hugs!

    • Close Diabetes Type 2

My mother died of heart failure while on dialysis at 44; just one of the complications w/ her Diabetes Type 1. So it's scary to be dealing with Type 2 problems at 48!

      Treatments

      Lantus Working / Worked
Except for the fact that my blood sugar sometimes jumps up at the end of the 24 hr dose, it helps keep it under control as long as there are no other ongoing problems.
      Metformin Working / Worked
Sometimes takes 1500 mg not the 1000 mg prescribed, but mostly useful. This and the glipizide are for 2 meals daily, so the 3rd meal and scheduled snacks are a problem.
      Glipizide Working / Worked
It's hard for me to remember to take it a half hour before a meal.
      Humalog Working / Worked
Changed from regular insulin to this fast acting one, with a sliding scale to use when my sugar is high.
    • Close Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)

This is a new diagnosis for me, although I had long suspected it, other medical problems took precedence for a long time. I really know nothing, except some symptoms and that it is common with us fibro sufferers, about this illness.

      Treatments

      Colace Working / Worked
This breaks through the constipation gently and sometimes lets me avoid the terrible colon spasms.
    • Open Fibromyalgia

I've had fibro for 9 years now. Hard to believe it's been that long since I could hold down a simple 40 hour a week job! It took SSI 7 years, almost to the day, to wake up and realize the extent of my pain and fatigue. Actually, they decided my back problems were disabling and ignored the fibro, just so you know.

      Treatments

      Acupressure Working / Worked
Fibro tender points are mostly on acupressure points and it can temporarily relieve some of your pain. Getting thru the treatment can be quite painful, though
      Cyclobenzaprine Working / Worked
Don't realize how helpful it is until I run out or forget it and the muscle spasms take over. Even with it I do have some spasming.
      Elavil Working / Worked
Only problem is that I eventually got use to the dosage and had to up it. I eventually was taking six 25 mg pills a day.
      Lyrica Working / Worked
So far it seems to be working and I have less problems with it causing unwarranted hunger!
      Tramadol Working / Worked
It works, but I can only take one every three days, as I am sensitive to it and a second dose any sooner makes me sick to my stomach.
    • Open Asthma
      Type: Adult Asthma

Asthma has been in my life since I was 19, so nearly 30 years now. The one good thing is that I've learned not to panic in a bad attack. On the other hand, nothing seems to completely control my coughing and wheezing.

      Treatments

      Advair Not Working
Tried changing from Azmacort to Advair and wheezing and coughing was soon out of control.
      Immunotherapy Not Working
Had shots for 3/ yrs & never progressed beyond a certain point; no reduction in symptoms. I chose to end shots; it was foolish to pay for something that wasn't helping.
      Inhaler Working / Worked
      Albuterol keeps me functioning!
      Singulair Working / Worked
If I don't take it I'm soon in trouble, but the benefit is limited.
      Azmacort Working / Worked
Am hoping to keep using this, even though it is responsible for my cataracts. It controls my symptoms well, if nothing else is exacerbating the asthma.
    • Open Eczema

I've had eczema since I was 14. Over the last year it has receded from my left shoulder and up off my neck, so that mostly it is only around and in my ears, w/ a little bit left in under the hair on the neck. No idea why, except that I have been eating much more heathily.

      Treatments

      Hydrocortisone Working / Worked
Most of my problems with it are that a lot of my eczema is under my hair and I hate to smear the cream into my clean hair.
    • Open Diets & Weight Maintenance

I have been overweight most of my life, I like to joke that they fattened me up to send me home, because I was a preemie and I never had a chance after that. The most weight I ever lost was 60 lbs. and that was on SlimFast & Sego. Do they even make Sego anymore? With some medical challenges the past 6 months I am now at my highest weight ever! My diabetic educator has told me that I should not go back on the only diet that I ever lost on besides sugar-filled meal replacements, Atkins.

      Treatments

Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Working / Worked
Atkins worked for me for about 8 months, then I hit a plateau. I went off last year for 2 weeks, couldn't get motivated again & did major damage in terms of my diabetes.
    • Open Coming Out

I struggled for about 5 years before I accepted that I was a lesbian. I feared that God would desert me; instead He began to guide me to Christian GLBT resources. I am now in a strong and secure, if a bit unorthodox, relationship.

    • Open Lesbian Relationship Challenges

FibroFienDeb hasn’t entered any details for this support group.
    • Open Arthritis

I've had osteoarthritis probably since my 20's. When a back injury at work sent me to a back doctor, the test results showed I already had arthritis in my neck. Now that some of my fibro pain is under conrol, the pain in my back feels pretty bad!

      Treatments

      Acupressure Working / Worked
      see my fibromyalgia listing
      Naproxen Not Working
Naprosyn as never worked for me!
