Unsweet Dreams

Time seems to slow here and unwind.
The presence of pain and hoplessness
Weigh on me with the weight of
A thousand regrets.
I wonder if I am as alone as I feel?
Sometimes it seems we are all alone
Regardless of the crowd of life,
And of the living
We wander through.
My mind races with thoughts
I can not contain.
They spill forth
Into the vastness
Of the time and space
That captures and holds me prisoner.
I grow numb through the pain
The sweet elixer that lets the pain
Fall from me;
And slips me like an intruder
Into a corrupted sleep,
Only to find it is not eternal-
And I am too pained to
breathe.
