I have to have a HSG done and I just wanted to know if there is anyone who has actually had this test done before? I am a little nervous and I just want some advice before I go. Thanks

Don;t do it without the meds and make sure they give you pain relivers when you leave. It can be painful afterwards!

I did it about 2 months ago. Take 800 mg. of tyleol about an hour before you go and that helps. You will feel some pinching and some mild cramping but it goes away very quickly. My mind painted it worse than it was. I would recommend tylenol afterwards and a heating pad. A lot of people go back to work the same day, I took the rest of the day off and rested however. GL! It will be fine.

    Devin,

I have had 2 of them, the first time they had trouble inserting the cathereter which was painfull. They tell you that it will only hurt if you have a blockage. Honey.. It hurts. I would take 800 mg of motrin and request prescription pain meds. It felt like a hell of alot more than cramps or a pinch but that is just my experience! Good luck!

I've had two. One when I was awake with only taking Midol. That was the worst pain I've every experience in my entire life. Sorry to be honest with you but it is the truth and I have a very high tolerance to pain. The Dr. told me well now you know what it will feels like when you are having mild contractions. The 2nd one I had I was knocked out for it. Thank goodness. I wish you the best of luck and hopefully it will go smoothly and painlessly for you.

Welcome
