Is anorexia Life Threatening?

Yes it is the most dangerous of all the psychological illnesses. One in Ten sufferers die from the disorder. This has increased in the last two years from 2/100 to 1/10, it has reached epidemic proportions in parts of Europe, treatment is varied and sometimes difficult to get, there are no quick fixes, no pills to cure, it treated by teaching coping skills anxiety management, depression management and diet managment, nutritional support, individual and family therapy.

It is a psychological illness which affects a persons clinical stability so it is difficult to treat and has several phases.

It is a totally dibilitating illness which affects the sufferer and the whole family.

    Agreed. A lot of people think it's a "glamourous" disease, but it's NOT. No one wants to die hooked up to machines in a hospital!

    I think we should also point out that bulimia kills as well!

    Yes, please lets add that bulimia kills as well. Spread the word. My sister never starved herself, she looked healthy on the outside. She binged and purged and this is what caused her heart to go into cardiac arrest.

So, I thought of this group, because many folks on the ED group are concerned for loved ones of girls and boys who suffer from EDs. This group is a non-judging place to get encouragement and help from others who have an ED'd loved one. Ask for advice on how to deal with your loved one as he/she goes through their eating disorder, get encouragement, and learn from each others' experiences.
