NO INSURANCE-NEED HELP

Posted on 05/05/08, 12:30 am
I have been suffering with bulimia for 15 years. ED has consumed my daily living and has gotten much worse as I get older. I B/P several times a week, sometimes several times a day. You would never know it by looking at me. I am not underweight. I am so scared that I am killing my body. My throat is always on fire,I get light headed,my stomach aches and my energy is non-existent. My 10 year old daughter has started to notice my patterns as well and has been questioning me. I have been telling her that I have a stomach ache and that's why I get sick.
As I mentioned I have no insurance; but I am desperate for help with my disease. Do you know of any treatment facilities that may be able to help me?

Treatment centres are very expensive, as you know. But what price do you put on a life? Even if you're not underweight, what you're doing can lead to severe consequences, which you are starting to really experience now. One of which being that your daughter may start emulating you soon. I cannot get insurance now either due to my pre-existing medical record; is this why you can't get insurance? My advice is if you can, get it. Otherwise, if you can't, I'd say try to take out a loan, and work out a private pay deal with Remuda Ranch. With private pay, they bring down the cost about 10%, and you could also see if your dietitian at home can get you a scholarship or discount as well. You can't do this forever- get the help you need now. You and I both waited over a decade to get help, and if you don't get help now, there won't be a life to pay for, you know? /huge hugs Give RR a call: 18004451900. If you end up doing an evaluation over the phone, see if you can get Christine- she's really sweet. If you really can't do RR, check out the lower level of Remuda Life. It's about half the cost, but I'll tell you, it's not as strict at the Ranch, which is what we need to break the habits. You're not monitored after meals, etc.

I'll be praying for you a lot. You need this. Also, you could see if you could get on one of those television shows- like Dr Phil or whatever- because they'll pay for treatment most of the time. OR, you could get someone to nominate you for an intervention on the documentary show "Intervention." They have sent three people to the Ranch- all three are in a good place now.

I went to treatment, at The Center in Edmond, Wa. They have scholarships, and will help finacially. They really did what ever they could to get me in there.. (a place of hope) is another name they call it. Good luck, and do not minimize Your eating disorder, regardless of your weight. Seek help, I have a 7 yr old daughter, who has witnessed my eating disorder. She knows, that mommy has trouble eating, and I think at 10, our children are smarter than we think.. May blessings find you..

So, I thought of this group, because many folks on the ED group are concerned for loved ones of girls and boys who suffer from EDs. This group is a non-judging place to get encouragement and help from others who have an ED'd loved one. Ask for advice on how to deal with your loved one as he/she goes through their eating disorder, get encouragement, and learn from each others' experiences.
