Chatty Cathy

All this talk about Barbie reminds me of my doll story. One Christmas my parents a.k.a. Santa gave me the Chatty Cathy Doll. She was a beauty with lovely blonde hair of many shades and when you pulled her cleverly hidden string she spoke real words. I think they were attracted to the name too. That afternoon we made the trip to Grandmaâ??s and Cathy and I were in the back seat. My doll decided to ask â??Where are we going?â?? and my fatherâ??s answer â??We are going to Grandmaâ??sâ??, was directed at me.
This incident became one of those family stories told many times at Christmas. Remember the time Daddy thought it was you speaking and it really was the doll. I recently was sent a photo of an original â??Chatty Cathy Dollâ?? advertisement which featured the â??Where are we going?â?? expression on the box. I was thrilled to be able to show this to my daughter, Katie. Better than a million â??I told you soâ??sâ??! I posted the photo to this site, check it out. Chatty Cathy Rules! Take that all you skinny Barbie lovers. just kidding, gotta love Barbie.

This group is formed with the idea that we collectively have a place to tell our stories. Gosh, don't each of us have so many stories to tell!!! Some happy, some sad, some ironic, some defying classification. Bring back the memories of youth, memories of growing up, memories of life changing events. The only thing I ask is to please keep it mutually respectful, and non-argumentative.
