the faster I go throught the motions and the calmer I act. the more I can accomplish. That said. -

well I would try to recognize your negative thoughts. You have to analyze those thoughts and reason with them. If they are unreasonable then you know that you are making yourself more nervous then you need be. What are the chances they are thinking this? if they are thinking this way about me do I really care? Does their opinion change the way I think of myself? and when you do this, your thoughts will change and you could feel more confident going into the situation. worth a try :) -

You are a great person and don't forget it! Do something selfless like help out a stranger or a family member that always gives me a quick boost :) we all need them no need to feel self fish for feeling good about yourself I know its hard I have dealt with it too :) -

I'm unemployed at the moment, i'm 33 and have never really had a job thaat meant anything to me. I've recently come back from 10 months travelling and just find it hard to be motivated. I want to change direction in some way but i'm not yet sure in what way? All i would say to you is after 10 years in the same job your going to find it tought, just hang in there, i'm sure your get there. -

I am also unemployed at the moment having taken a 2 year work break and am generally pretty worried about the future. However, I recently discovered Dr Richards' audio series. It is brilliant! Easy to follow and it seems to have started to work for me. Check it out - http://www.socialanxietyinstitute....

Hi ~ I'm your age and have to start all over again as well. I've been out of work for about one and a half years due to illness. I will have to get back out there and seek employment soon enough. People have told me, the more you do it the easier it becomes. Even going on interviews for jobs that you're not that interested in just to practice. Counseling will help - I'm doing counseling too, and working on that issue. It is really hard for people like us - I agree. But, with a little work on our self-esteem, we can do it. Thinking positive helps! I was really down after losing my job due to my illness. But then I thought - you know, there is always something better out there. And, change can be a good thing. Best wishes! -

thanks for all your replies. i have given up the job hunt for now. it was juat too hard on me mentally. i cnat take much moore rejection. i now get food stamps and i applied for dissabillity. my son is working a few moore hours finnally. im in counseling now also and im trying to work on myself. i dont think ill be able to work or get hired untill i get rid of some of these issues. im pretty much homebound lately, which realy scares me. ive got a great family, and i live in an apt were you pay by your income, thank god. so im going to try to get myself in order then take it from there. ive never been out of work this long, ive gained so much weight, etc... but thank you to everyone who answered this disscussion. sorry i didnt get back to ya. my son has the only computer, so i only get on every once n awhile. thanks again to everyone and good luck i realy appreciate it. this site is very helpfull...
