I am new here, just starting out

I joined this site yesterday and just ran across this support group. I am GOING TO GET SOBER! I did not drink last week at all, then slipped over the weekend. I was hungover and filled with anxiety yesterday, and I did not drink last night! I am just starting over, keep on keeping on! I CAN DO THIS! I am now over 1 full day without a drink and I feel great! One day is better than none!
Because I slipped over the weekend, I have been pre-planning the upcoming weekend for things that do not involve alcohol. The water park, movies, finishing unpacking my new house, etc. I have a person I can call that will be supportive should the urge strike! But I am counting on the Big Guy (God) and myself, and together we can do it!
One day sober may not seem like a lot, but it feels really good for me!

Thats so awesome ML.Try playing out your day that you would normally drink in your cell phone.Just talk to yourself and play out each drink. After you do this the desire might fade away.Go from the first drink to the last in your head and you will wonder. Is it worth it.

Congrats to you for making the decision! Weekends are the hardest for me also. Try to make some plans that don't revolve around drinking activities, if you can. It does get easier - 116 days here, going strong. I think the main thing that keeps me sober today is not wanting to start over at day 1. Hang in there - you can do it!!! Jan
