"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who askes recieves; he who seeks finds; and to him who knockes, the dor will e opened.

WHAT CAN WE EXPECT WHEN WE PRAY?

According to this verse it sounds like we can ask for anything we want. Is that true? No thank goodness because we would ask for things that are not always in our best intrest and God has our best intrests in mind.

This is a side insert in my Qwest Bible:
What Jesus promises here is insight and direction through the work of the Spirit within us. Jesus does not promise that we will recieve whatever we might thing we need. As the Holy Spirit directs our hearts, we will desire those things that will benefit us spiritually. We can have faith to see those things accomplishes as the fulfillment of his promise.
