Posted on 05/30/08, 04:06 pm
I want to learn other ways to deal with my anxiety rather than relying on medications. I've tried so many that i'm sure if you turn me upside down i would rattle. If anyone could suggest any other treatments i would be greatful.

Meditation works wonders at the time you are doing it, but I find myself not doing it regularly. I guess it must be my questioning my ability to do it. Sometimes it works wonders and other times I'm really struggling. What kind of meditation is LNR1981 doing? I've been using a book called Meditation for Beginners by Jack Kornfield - it comes with a CD. The CD is an actual meditation class. I highly recommend it.

Exercising is a fantastic was to help get rid of anxiety. I bought a rowing machine at the start of this year and it has really made a huge difference for me. yoga is also very good , you can buy dvds to use at home if you cant manage to go to the classes.

I totally agree!! Exercising is an excellent way to calm the jitter / shakiness. A nice steady and sweaty work out that increases your heart rate to a medium level, for at least half an hour, is an excellent way to go. At the end the body jitters go away and your have a sense of peace in your mind and you tend to have less negative thoughts flying through your head. Has anyone else tried exercising to help to alleviate anxiety?
