First Step - Realizing anxiety issue

The first step to healing is to realize / admit that there is an issue / problem. Once you do that you are well on your way to healing. How or When did you realize you had and issue with anxiety? I've love to hear your stories.

When I ended up in the suicide ward and was diagnosed with multiple emotional problems one of which was anxiety. -

i didnt realize what was wrong with me until i ended up in the hospital for self injury/depression and was also diagnosed with severe anxiety as well...am under treatment for it although still feel it at work -

yeah, this is right. I wasnt even diagnosed with anything until 3-4 months after it all started. The doctor was convinced i was pregnant because of the nausea and kept giving me test kits! Finally got prescribed some beta blockers by A DIFFERENT DOCTOR which made a huge difference! I was quite scary actually realising I had a mental condition. I knew something was not right but i couldnt understand what it was because the doctor i was seeing was convinced it was something phhysical. It was scary having all these physical symptoms and not knowing why they were happening to me and what i could do to control them. -

I got a therapist and joined a 12 step program and medication - Lexapro for anxiety and depression - and began to get better.
