Codependent No More

This is an exerpt from "Codependent No More" by Melody Beattie: "I don't know joy. I spent my life not even bothering to think about what I wanted and needed, where I wanted to go, and what I wanted to do. Life was to be endured. I didn't think I deserved good things. I didn't think most good things were within my reach. I wasn't that interested in my life, except as an appendage to other people. I didn't think about living my life; I was too focused on others and their approval of me. I was too busy reacting instead of acting.
I've started to realize that waiting is an art, that waiting achieves things. Waiting can be very, very powerful. Time is a valuable thing. If you can wait 2 years, you can sometimes achieve something that you could not achieve today, however hard you worked, however much money you threw up in the air, however many times you banged your head against the wall. Things happen when the time is right - when we're ready, when God is ready, when the world is ready. Give up. Surrender."
This really helps me see why I can't seem to figure out what I want - to do, to be, to go. And also helps with my impatience. Just wanted to share with my DS friends - hugs!
