So true. And very interesting to put it as.."I want you to be happy." Just like I heard once that using good manners - in words and actions is a way of showing that you feel the people around you are deserving of respect.

It is so true.
My daughter and Paul always tell me that I am always too nice to people when we are out. When we go to the store, dinner etc. I hold doors for people, male or female. I always clean up my table after we eat.I don't mean like wipe it up.But I always stack the dishes so its easy for them to clean up.I am always polite when I order or even at a cash register,I always say pls, thank you to everyone.I smile at absolutely everyone I come into contact with and made eye contact with.It never surprises me when you see someone who looks to be having a bad day what a simple smile can do.I was raised with good manners and I raised my children the same way.It is a very very simple thing, but I agree it goes a very very long way.
Ok I am rambling,I really loved this post today Dawn,I loved everyones comments.I am going to print it, post this on my Frig.
Thanks,Deb -

I agree with your daughter and Paul BTW, Deb.
There are times when the best kindness for someone is to be strong and tough (not cruel and nasty) = tough love. For their own good.
