675 cats at humane society they are killing 580 of them because they don't have space

WHY DO PEOPLE BRING animals to the humane society KNOWING all humane societies are kill shelters and even if they don't kill them at that particular shelter they will SEND THEM TO ANOTHER SHELTER where the killings are done. what do people think there is abundant space everywhere. animals are the responsibility of every person out there. we should all be feeding strays and having strays fixed. its not up to ONE person or ONE organization to do this. we should ALL BE DOING THIS ALL THE TIME. people should be ordered to keep a jug of food in their vehicles and be taxed if they don't have proof of fixing at least ONE stray per year. it only costs $20 to fix a male and $35 to fix a female through the humane society. there are programs. and i have heard of FREE programs in inner cities like Camden, nj. all the person has to do is show that they live in camden and then it is free.

My most recent stray is at the vet's right now; he checked out health-wise, got his shots while I was there, and now they will keep him and neuter him. Once that is done, he will be back down at the barn. The Humane Society is based at this vet hospital, and they keep asking me to foster, but they are not no-kill, and I just don't think I can do it; I already have 18 cats, house and barn(all fixed, or soon to be) and I know what I would do; adopt more! I know all the statistics, and understand why it has to be done, but I just could not work there and watch it. Heck, I can't even kill my spare roosters! -

I think that many people believe that the Humane Society is a no kill organization. I did. I only learned a few days ago that it is not.
I agree that the problem is really out of control. I'm volunteering at a cat rescue. We are already out of space to take new cats. Two weekends ago we had to turn away 12 kittens. I'm already fostering a couple of cats, with plans to adopt one that is two old to be adopted.
I've been researching spay/neuter programs in my area. I found out that the county shelter has a mobile unit that will spay or neuter cats for only $15. I've made up a flyer to hand out to people who come to our faciltiy at Petsmart.
JesseMM, my heart goes out to you. I couldn't handle such a scene of killing healthy cats for no reason except lack of room. I figure there is always a way to solve it. But too many idiots don't fix their animals.
