My bunny had cancer, must have surgery Tuesday!

Posted on 07/13/08, 08:22 pm
Hi, Everyone,
I just joined this group. For 4 years I've been so lucky to live with my beloved rescued rabbit named Vernon Z. Shedmeister.
3 years ago Vernon had to have surgery to remove a cancer tumor, and he recovered quickly.
Last week a new tumor grew very quickly in the same place, his leg, but higher up. He had diagnostic surgery on Friday and the doctor found that the tumor was deeply wedged in his armpit and moved partly into his sternum.
On Tuesday he will have surgery with a top notch rabbit expert, who specializes in cancer. There is a very large chance that his leg will have to be amputated.
I am so upset and anxious. I love Vernon so very much. He is recovering extremely well from the diagnostic surgery, and I am so lucky to live close to the surgeon who will operate on him this Tuesday, but this is such a stressful situation. I never wanted kids, so my companion animals have been like children to me, especially Vernon. Please send lots of good wishes this Tuesday, starting at 11:30am.
Many Thanks, Ave

    Dear Ave.

I know about now you are chewing y our nails down to the bone, since it is about an hour before surgery time. But, instead fo biting your nails, try praying. It will work wonders for you and for y our rabbit.

Dear Heavenly Father, we thank thee for this beautiful day. And Lord of Lords, please let Ave remain calm during her pets operation and if it be thy will Lord, let her rabbit come through his surgery without losing his leg. Heavenly Father, please take this girl and her pet rabbit into your hands and help them to overcome whatever comes next. And I say this in the name of Jesus the Christ, Amen.

Please let us know what happens.

    God Bless,
    :Lee

    Hi, Everyone,
Thank you so much for your wonderful support messages, so appreciated! Vernon is doing INCREDIBLY well, running around, eating, etc. The surgeon did have to amputate his leg, but he thinks he got out all the cancer, and Vernon is doing beautifully with three legs, no balance problems at all. Miraculous!
    Lots of love, Ave

This group is for everyone that has the love of animals. If you have lost a pet or have a pet that is sick then you are at the right place. We also will be discussing day to day problems that we run into with our little ones, helping each other to work through them and find the answer. This soon will be also a meeting place for all Ordained Chaplains of Pets/Animals to discuss all phases of their ministry.
