switching labels

Does anyone else have label conscious kids and have to put generic cereal for example into name brand boxes?? My kids are now at an age where they know and my Son actually would prefer to make toast rather than eat generic bag cereal. Husband is the same way and he is the one always fussing about the cost of everything. I have been putting generic baby shampoo (yes for husband not kids) in his bottle for 3 years and he has never noticed, but swears he hates generic and it doesn't work. Yeah, OK honey!

I have not done that but my sister used to do that with ice cream believe it or not because of her hub. That was back in the days when they sold ice milk (it was really good too from what I can remember!) and he refused to eat it, always wanted ice cream. Ice cream was more expensive of course. She would buy the ice milk and put it into an ice cream box and he never knew!!!!! -

My mother in-law always liked a certain brand of coffee. So, we saved
the old can and bought what we liked and when she visited, had our brand in the old can - the brand she said" There is just nothing like_____
coffee." But, her taste costs a lot more and we were trying to save. We never told her the difference -

It proves the power of advertising. When I moved to Portland, OR years ago I was introduced to the Nordstrom's shopping bag syndrome. Teenage girls would "die" if their moms carried Pennys or Meier and Frank shopping bags. -

I am lucky when it comes to my kids, although they are 22, 19 and 15 now, they never thought nothing about a generic cereal... But let's talk about my husband.... He won't drink nothing but regular whole milk, he says the low fat, (NOT SKIM) don't taste good. Well my sister buys the low fat and I can't tell any difference, maybe a little, but I probably couldn't if I didn't know. So I have been thinking about making the switch on him, just to see, but I know how I am... if he drinks it and says nothing, it is gonna be SO HARD for me not to open my mouth :) LOL
I remember my nephew was having a couple of friends over from school on Friday night years ago, and he come to my sister on Wednesday and handed her some change, and asked " Momma can you please buy the REAL cereal for this weekend?" -

lol, that is so funny. Same problem here. My daughter loves to eat veggies out of the can COLD!! Gross! But anyway she wont eat them unless they are name brand veggies. She always swares that generic products wont work for her also even if the ingredients are exactly the same as the name brand. -

I dont think he can tell the difference in the milk if you switch it. I hate whole milk, its too thick and heavy for me but it tastes exactly the same as skim. I would maybe try 2%, that has the same consistency of the whole milk, skim looks watered down. -

Had a friend who used to do that with her daughter's clothes.....she would buy the clothes at Walmart, switch the labels, and her daughter was perfectly happy with the 'expense, designer' clothes.....;-)
Also know a guy who told me he switches out liquer in some whiskey bottles, for those who drop by, hang out by his pool, and want to drink his booze......lol!!
