New here...

Hi,
My name is Emma, and I am new to this site. I am hoping someone can advise me. My mom had a wisdom tooth out a couple of months ago, and she has never regained the feeling in the right side of her tongue since this happened. It is all numb down the right side. Oral surgeon says there was nerve damage. From what I've read, this should resolve itself in time? Does anyone have any personal stories like this? She had a CT scan last week to assess the damage, and we are awaiting the results. Hoping to hear some positive advice.

Thanks, Emma

    hi Emma,
Welcome. I found this website with lots of information for your mother on Lingual Nerve Injury from Anesthetic Injections. They have a treatment page also, that would be helpful for her. They said that there is a 85% chance it resolves itself, but there might be helpful info if she falls in the 15% of people.
    here is the link: http://www.sciential.net/lingual_n...
    Take care,
    Jon

I am sorry to read about what has happened to your mom. I hope by now, you've gotten some answers. If you or your mom are not satisfied with the doctor she is now seeing, you could always consider getting another opinion from another neurologist. Hope all goes well.
