Wait...I don't have to fix it!

It's really funny to realize the stuff from marriage that accidentally intrudes into dating. I was struggling a little with someone I had dated and realized all of the sudden, "wait...this is dating...I don't have to work on it or fix it...it could just be someone I dated and didn't pursue a relationship with." I guess it's obvious - the whole point of dating is to see if you're compatible enough to do a relationship, but the once-married part of me still wants to fix every first date, lol. Anyway, it just struck me as funny...

Be yourself and be true and honest with the person you are with and you will always have your head held high.
You do not need to fix anything, but that does not mean you cannot keep an open eye out to make sure simple mistakes do not happen.

AMEN! I have always been the type to "help" others and took on WAY too much with my EX. I know we all have baggage - but some people I have had "dates" with carry a cargo ship load with them. "Thanks for the coffee. Good luck to you"
