i grow up in south dakota. i was born in milbank sd. i live their untill i was eight years old than my dad brought a bar in twin brooks south dakota. it was a little town of 100 people. it was seven miles west of milbank. -

England! You do have military history! My mother-in-law is from Stanley, England. Her parents moved here right after WW 2. -

Bluesy a lot of our regiments can trace their origin back before the United Kingdom was formed.
The United Kingdom of Great Britain was created with the Act of Union 1701. This Act United the Kingdoms of Scotland and England. In 1801 another Act of Union was passed incorporating the Kingdom of Ireland into the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. When the Republic of Ireland (formerly the Irish Free State) gained full independence from the UK the country adopted its current title of The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. [Note: I am not certain but the UK may have adopted its current moniker with the establishment of the Irish Free State in 1923].
Wales is not mentioned in the title of the UK since it was never a kingdom but merely a principality and had been thoroughly absorbed by the mid 16th Century.
So even though our constituent Nations are ancient the UK of GB and NI is fairly recent. -

I was born in the Bronx, NYC, and then moved to Long Island (Elmont) when I turned around 20, then I moved and retiered up to New Hampshire with my wife. My daughter lives in NH too with her husband and my two amazing grandkids. My son moved down to FL. and is a swinging bachelor.
