Side Effect Problem

Hi Everyone,
I apologize for not being here in a long time, I was hospitalized for 8weeks due to the Hep C treatment affecting my other illness. I have Fanconi Anemia / born with it and its just sort of been dormant, nothing a good ole blood transfusion or daily B12 shots didn't take care of, but we knew that wouldn't last forever. My anemia got so bad I almost died. So they had to stop the treatments, they had me on so many meds for the side effects it brought me out of remission for my weird anemia. My anemia has progressed to Leukemia. I had to stop treatment for the Hep, but I am still testing Negative for the Hep C...I fought and won one battle....but the only thing that will help me not progress to death is a bone marrow transplant.... no one in my family is a match so were not sure what to do, I may sign up for a clinical trial at Stanford but not sure yet....I am not sure I have the strength to go through anymore stuff....well anyways I am no longer grumpy and moody :-) I guess that is a plus, I am having fun and mostly just try and live day by day and be with my family as much as possible......
Hugs to all..... Carmella

Yeah, it was tough, but having treatment for one illness which worsens another was something we knew from the start. One thing I have decided is that I am not going to go ahead and be part of a clinical trial. I decided to just take a break for awhile.. .I cannot work, and I have to file bankruptcy now, my insurance dropped me because I was on disability so I am thousands in debt...so I just went back to work, trying to build my strength up naturally until I am reinstated with my work benefits. Unfortunately, realistically is I am not a person who has someone to take care of me financially so I can give this fight a good chance. So I am at peace with just letting nature take its course whatever that may be. I won't be sick and homeless on top of it.
Health care in this country as we all know sucks, it is a privilege of the rich. Fighting this disease has thrown my whole life savings away on doctors treatments for the months that my insurance dropped me. I decided no more, this isn't living, this is "existing" at its lowest level. I never really see how this effects others financially it doesn't seem to be something most people bring up. I was able to work in the beginning....but I got so damn sick. I am sure I am not the first to be dropped from a medical plan to no insurance at all. Nada.... I have great benefits from my job, but when I really needed them Blue Cross dropped me...so guys.... you may want to be careful.... if you are covered....plan for the possibility when thinking about going on disability ...most job related benefits will drop you as soon as you go on disability...even though you are still employed..... I had no idea..so thought I would bring that up
