Out of breath and raised heart rate
Posted on 05/05/08, 06:48 pm
So last Wednesday I wake up do my normal thing and I have a rapid heart beat and I'm out of breath. My mom takes my blood pressure and it's 157/127! My normal is 117/79! I let it go and thought maybe I was rushing too much and that's why. I go to work (and I have a physical job in the warehouse) and 2-3 hours later it goes away. Today is Monday and I finally call the doctor, and she's on vacation. I talk to her nurse and she gets a hold of my liver specialist, and they are reviewing my blood work form last Thursday. I'll hear from them tomorrow because she said she'd call me in the am. If things get worse she told me to go to the ER. At my last visit I was not anemic. This week is week 14 of my treatment and I'm crabby as hell and I'm worried about this breathing thing. Can anyone relate to this? Please help!

Hi Jenny, When I was on TX, around the 5th month, I had the same problems. I was so short of breath that walking to my mail box was a chore. I had alot of palpations also. Never had the elevated blood pressure though. I had to either give up on the TX or stop working so I went on medical leave. It was very difficult to live that way, but I didn't want to give up on my change to kill the virus. My husband had to be put on blood pressure meds, during his TX and is still taking them. I don't know if the TX brought that on or if it was something that he was having before and just never had it checked. He is not a doctor kind of man. Stays away from them as much as possible. I would have the blood pressure checked to be on the save side.If you need anything feel free to call upon me if you'd like. I've done the TX and helped my husband and daughter go though theirs...Joni aka Nonilv -

Thanks for everyone's input my doc cut me back on my ribavirin , ans she said I'm slightly anemic. My blood work looked fine, and my blood pressure was normal. My family doc said it sounds like a panic attacks. Gave me some xanax to try to see if that helps and said to take some iron supplements. That's all I can do for now unitl my Liver doctor comes back from vacation. Jen -

Dont let your GI cut your dose to long. The same thing happened to me and my dose was cut for almost a month I felt better but the virus was detected again. The numbers were xx low but still its not a good idea. I had to do procrit shots once a week. It took a few weeks but they did help. Drink a lot of cold water..that helped me out so much when I felt out of breath. Wish you the best. -

Hi Jen
I got winded while on tx just walking from my car to work. On the flip side I finished 48 wks of tx and feel much better. Still sore in my muscles and joints but no more getting winded while walking. Boy how I took things for granted. When you cant perform the normal daily tasks of life and then be able to perform them again, it is a gift only people on treatment can relate and appreciate. Best wishes on your journey:) -
