I use to work in a miniatures store about 15 years ago. I found that the cheaper you went the more out porportion you got. I made a box with the glass infront (?) that had two heavily carved cushion chairs ($75 each) and carpet and a fireplace with a few other things and gave it to one of my long ago pdoc. he just loved it. Do you do animals? Just answer here on your post please. marillyn

No... but oh, I've seen some mini animals done in felted wool and they are just sooooo adorabe!

I noticed that scale problem with cheap imported minis (not to mention the crooked drawers, heavy varnish, and other issues, LOL) when I had a full scale dollhouse years ago. I just won a half scale Real Good Toys Colonial house kit on ebay and plan to use quality contemporary style furnishings. (It'll take years to find and/or make things.)

The room box for your pdoc sounds fabulous! It must have been fun working in a store surrounded will all those miniatures.

You know Mars, I never have thought of this as miniatures but when you said felting it reminded me of a creach or nativity I have from felted wool. It is imported from a slavic country. (I bought it so the women there could build a well or something). It has three wisemenn baby Jesus, marry and Joseph and 3 sheep and a camel they all have tiny swags and rickrack and they are all portioned for each other???!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks!

There is a colonial house in the at museum at the Local Museumof history and Industry it has been there for 50 years at least. I always wondered how they cleaned it and the lady told me. That they ttake a very finemesh screen and hold in tothe curtains or flooring or anthing with dust and then use a tiny vacuum cleaner like they use for computers (pencil thin, you know?) and run that over it.Cool huh. What are your plans for one of the rooms? (I love those tiny persianrugs)

I never thought of nativity sets as miniatures, but indeed they are!

For the bedroom, a mahogany bed (handmade, I ordered the wood) dressed in bed linens made by lady who does mini sewing and needlework. That's the only decorating decision that I made so far.

Did you light your room box?

I didn't light my last house until after it was built, and then added lights in the kitchen (over the stove in the vent hood and in a handmade ceiling fan with 3 lights... it didn't rotate, just lit up... it was a pain hiding the wiring.
