Hi, just joined! At the moment I'm crocheting too. For the first time I'm using crochet thread. I made some baby booties and hats. And i also used it as trim for the blankets. I'm a recovering alcoholic sober 7 years. I''ve always like to work with my hands. I keep tool's and anything else in my hand instead of a beer or a bottle now. :0) I think I'm gonna like it here!

My grandmother tried to teach me to crochet-I just didn't get it. I have a beautiful zig-zag stitch afgan she made for me. She was able to teach me to do some embroidery(sp?), cross stitch, and counted cross stitch. I just wish I was better at it.

I wanted to learn to. I thought it would be nice to make baby things for future grandchildren. I bet your blankets are cute.

I crochet hats and scarfs and taught my hubby to do it to. What we do is make them and give them to the homeless shelters around our area. So far we have given away nearly 1,000 hats and scarfs that we make. We also collect books and give them to the Veterns. My mom taught all her kids to crochet and some of them to sew. I am not a sewer but have two sisters that can take a pattern and made clothing that look like the created it themselves.

That is wonderful that you even got hubby involved. I think helping the homeless is so nice of you.

I am making lap robe blankets for a hospice in NYC. Crocheting helps ease my jangled nerves. I've got 7 done, working on no.8, 12 more to go.
