Presidential Election - My Opinion & Info
Posted on 10/10/08, 10:49 am
I do not in anyway wish to offend or push my opinions on anyone but felt this important to post. Regardless of choice of candidate it is a critical time for everyone to become involved in the process and make intelligent choice.
Obama has set-up Campaign Headquarters near me which I will become involved in as my health allows. Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden will be doing rally in town tonight and I'm excited to go see it.
Again this is just my opinion...also an email I'm sending to all my friends and family.
I welcome any/all other opinions on both candidates as more information is needed in these times of crisis that affect us all and our future generations.
Hi,
I've been thinking a lot about the election and how important it is to our family.
I've decided to support Barack Obama, and wanted to let you know why.
There are many rumors floating around out there, so here's some information about Barack's positions on things I know are important to you:
-- Economy: http://my.barackobama.com/EconomyF...
-- Health Care: http://my.barackobama.com/Healthca...
-- Education: http://my.barackobama.com/Educatio...
This is probably going to be the most important election in my lifetime, and it's something I strongly believe in. So let's talk about it. Ask me anything.
If you are not supporting Barack Obama I would encourage all to get involved in truly studying the issues, values and plans of the Candidates and not the Political in-fighting and down right lies/email rumors. Please base your decision on facts but mainly just go VOTE, VOTE, VOTE!
Know the Issues
Affordable Higher Education
Barack will create a new American Opportunity Tax Credit to make the first $4,000 of college completely free for most students. In return, eligible students will be required to perform 100 hours of public service a year.
Health Care
Barack is committed to health care reform that ensures all Americans have high-quality, affordable health care choices. He will ensure that young adults can stay covered under their parents' insurance until age 25, to help reduce costs for young people entering the workforce.
Jobs
Barack supports doubling federal funding for basic research, expanding broadband access, and making the research and development tax credit permanent so that young people with and without college degrees can thrive in the job market. Barack will invest $150 billion in renewable energy projects to create up to 5 million new jobs, and will create an energy-focused youth jobs program to give more young Americans a good job opportunity.
Iraq and Foreign Affairs
Barack opposed the war in Iraq from the beginning and has a plan to responsibly end the war. He will renew American diplomacy by reaching out to foreign leaders and will reestablish Americaâ??s moral leadership by respecting civil liberties and fighting corruption at home. Barack will continue to lead the global fight against HIV/AIDS, double U.S. funding for foreign aid, and work to end the genocide in Sudan.
Engage Americaâ??s Youth in Politics
Barack believes we cannot improve our government without involving young Americans in the political process. He supports measures that would make it easier for young people to vote, such as Election-Day registration and no-excuse absentee balloting.
Global Warming
Barack has been a leader in the fight to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and minimize the effects of climate change on our planet. He strongly supports a market-based, cap-and-trade approach that will reduce our greenhouse gas emissions 80 percent by 2050.
God bless us all - not only does the US need it but globally world-wide countries. Thanks for listening even if you don't agree.

Just wanting you to know where I stand. I went to see him last week.
Tina went to early voting and already voted for him. I like to vote at the polls. -

Cool - I wish I could go see him. Did you meet him in person or at a rally? I couldn't make the Biden & Hillary rally here.
Can't wait for the debate tonight!
I'm going to another county where his campaign headquarters are on the 20th for a gather the voters for early voting party but I can't vote there as it is another county.
Wish I could vote there...my little town is so noisy and borders on illegal. I once went to vote and when I asked for a party ticket that was opposite of my husband's they told me 'oh no honey you can vote for that person - here this is the one your husband picked' can you believe that lol???
This time I'm gonna walk in and loudly ask 'whar do I go to put my pencil on paper for Barack' - that outta wake em up and give em enough to chatter about for a long time (lol)....there usually isn't but 3 people in front of ya in line but whole town will know by afternoon (lol),.... -

Neut is just unswayable. We should have Neutron for President.
Last nights debate was interesting. It came closests to each explainting their plans. I am not so sure McCain didn't win that one. Over all and having some faith that the Democratic Party works for the little guy Joe Plumber etc. I will say Obama is the best chance. He does have Hilary behind him. I just would like to wipe that smirk and laugh as he raises a finger or pencil to interupt McCain when they debate. I think he has taken some acting skills. I am going for the Democrats not Obama per say. I just hope he doesn't do anything rash that will cause our soldiers more harm.
That is how all should be thinking FM -

I agree Pandy....I've thought before that Neutron outta be president. maybe we can do a write-in vote (lol).
I do respect Obama for his intelligence, calm attitude and consistency on stance...I have concerns over McCain's temperment and erractic changes in what he stands for since he went down in the polls. I also have serious concerns about Palin.
However, all politicians will say anything to win (both neg and positive promises) so we all have to just gather info as best as possible and vote.
vote on my beliefs and not on party in general....except this year for sure for Demo.
I don't vote on 1 issue the candidate has but on the overall plan and integrity.
I simply want a democrate in the office so our country will stand a chance....even then it will take a very long time to undo the damage that has been done in past 8 yrs.
I just hope that if Obama gets in he will be able to make change and not be ran over by the 'good ole boy' network that won't like to let go of their power trip and greed.
Maybe if the house/senate open seats are mostly taken by demo's we will have a chance....also a good demo Supreme Ct Judge would help.
I also like the 'true' story about Obama childhood rather than the slander out there - it is getting truly scary how prejudiced our country is. But I am proud that we have made it this far when civil rights were just created 44 yrs ago.
But I would vote for a green alien if I believe they could help our country (lol)...
Can only hope that the middle class and our brave soldiers will really be remembered and that change can be made.
My fear is that the votes will be affected by either so many late registerers that they can get into system in time or by vote fraud which will mess up true results. Ya'd think after all these yrs they could get something that simple fixed.
It kills me that last yr on local vote towns here ran out of ballots and people that stood in line for hours were sent home and couldn't vote (huh)???
Sorry rambling again....please remember that I am by NO means a very knowledable political persoon and certain no pundit or political analyst just my own rambling thoughts that I even don't understand half the time cause working on half brain seriously.
Let's just agree to agree to hope that whoever wins will do the best they can to help our country that is in serious trouble and is going to get much worse before better. I personally wouldn't want to have the job they are fighting so hard for (lol)
Friends Still???
luv ya gal!!!
Been wondering where ya were and how ya were but so sorry too busy to have checked lately....

If nominated I will run, if elected I will serve!
I saw Joe the plumber and was searching the white pages. If you own a $250,000 - $270,000 business, you won't earn that every year. Plus, you can depreciate that equipment, pay employees and benefits, he would be lucky to clear $100,000. Besides, under Obama's policy he is proposing, you will pay the taxes on earnings above $250,000. 10% of citizens make that much money or more. People making millions and billions of dollars CAN afford to pay more taxes. If I had that kind of money I would gladly pay big taxes!
But in reality, Joe only makes $40K a year, isn't buying a business and has a lean against him for non-payment of taxes. Under Obama's plan, he would receive an additional $500 on his tax return, if he actually pays taxes. I believe the lien is against his property taxes.
I think McCain should have done some research.
