    Lesa (Yesterday)

You all are so sweet!I'll see the surgeon tomorrow and will let you all know the date.Marcia is a wonderful nurse. We were able to use the same vein all 3 days.I have a healthy new respect for my port though.Didn't remember how painful the infusions were without it. Dad's surgery went well.He had the bandages removed today and they are hoping he will be able to see from it next week.Keeping him still is the biggest problem now.Praying he will see next week! Thank you all for your love and support.

Hi Lana, these past several hugs have been to keep everyone posted about Lesa, to check in with each one who loves her would be restrictive, but this reaches the most pple the quickest way possible. We often talk of finding a central place here in N.A. to hold a weekend get together for DS ppl. It will be up to us to organize it..... if it is to happen. The ppl who own and operate DS might assist us in making it known to the largest possible # of DS ppl, beyond that it would be up to us. So many of us have conditions involving fatigue as well as pain, that as much as we'd like to see it happen, it would need someone with a great deal of stamina to spearhead it!! Several of us have and do get together in smaller groups and that is about all the arranging most of us can manage, but it is a start! If I hear anything happening I'll let you know for sure.

Carol, Would you keep me posted about Lesa?! I would really appreciate it! She is such a wonderful woman; I couldn't imagine something happened to her. Also, I wanted to run something past you; has anyone ever talked about all of the people on DS wanting to get together, and meet each other face to face?! You know, like sort of a convention or something like that?! I think that would truly be great if that could happen. Who would we have to talk to about that. Anyway, I hope all is well with you. Take care my friend, and I will talk to you soon. Big Hugs, Lana

Hey "unloved" that was an impressive show of support for you when you let us know about the accident your DH was in!! Its nice to see that your screen name is proving to be a misnomer.....! or should we call it: 'unfulfilled prophecy'? "So that which you feared didnot come upon you"!! Now to encourage this kind of response to continue in our little community here, why don't you come back online and give us an update on your DHs condition now that the accident is behind you both. Wishing you both many blessings/c.

Okay, last day of this treatment for Lesa, as of last night, her IV had worked for both days, she was feeling pretty rotten though; as most of you know her IVIG has similar side effects to Chemo-therapy, like, nausea/vomiting, fever/chills, headache/general body aches etc! So lets continue to remember her in prayer on this, her last day of this treatment! Many of us remain concerned also for Socalmom/Kathy. As she is in Riverside, very close to the awful fires in southern California, we pray for her and her families safety and for her over all well being. It is so sad that a place like DS that offers so much loving support can also leave a few of our friends bruised, bloodied and missing in action.........

Hug Delete carolmj (12:56 pm) Somehow, my last update on Lesa has been erased, my puter (Vista) does have a mind of its own, so can only assume I am guilty.!! Mainly I was telling everyone that Lesa will be seeing the surgeon on Fri. morning this week. She hopes to have the new line inserted next week!

The word from Lesa is that Marcia succeeded in finding oil in them thar veins !! She told Lesa she dreampt about her veins all weekend...... that doesn't suprise me at all...... every medic dreads starting an IV on ppl whose veins are 'used up'!! Lesa sounds good at the moment as she got good news that her Dads urgent repair of a partially detached retna has been booked for this week as they had hoped, and will be done in her hospital, so she will get to see him before she goes in for her own surgery and as we all know that will give her some peace of mind to know that his sight in that eye will have been preserved. I'm not sure how much she had time to journal about this round with her dad, if I'm getting ahead of her with the good news, you'll all have to pretend its all new to you, carol didn't leak a word !! Its always so good to know when she is feeling encouraged about something that I just had to share it. So now we just need to pray about the usual side effects she gets from the IVIG (similar to Chemotherapy side effects with nausea & vomiting, severe headaches body aches etc!! Take care all, and while I'm here, I know many of you are concerned still for Kath, aka socalmom, the fires in S.Calif~ are pretty close to her, so lets remember her to, and hope that we get some word from her soon. Its funny how a site like this that could give so much support also leaves a few wounded and bloody, all in the name of love, don't ya know? Anyway lets hold them both close to our hearts, and be grateful for a place like 'Friends' were they can not be wounded again! Many of us wanted to do something new and safe for Lesa and instead, she was able to pull this group together for all of us and has managed to keep it warm & safe!!!

Lets pray for Lesa as she begins her transfusion today with Marcia having to find a vein to give it in until a new central line can be inserted.(hopefuly next week) Marcia was at one time an IV nurse, but Lesa's veins have been so used and abused, that finding one that will last the full three days will be a challenge even for her..... so lets pray this can be done with the fewest pricks possible. And that Lesa be strengthened for the work and proceedures yet to come. We love you Lesa and are inspired by your faith and strength of spirit. Just always remember that we are always here to offer support in any way that you could find meaningful!

I just read that the ports are only good for about 1000 uses!!! So this suggests it was just a matter of time at the rate of your infusions ever second wk, not to mention the meds you give every day! Because it actually said 1000 'sticks'. So yah...........! It was on borrowed time, but YOU are on God's Time !!!
