What do you believe in??

Posted on 07/18/08, 05:50 pm
I'm married to controling Chriatian. I have many personal and emotional issues and I am NOT A CHRISTIAN. I believe in the scientific explination of existance. I am, however, somewhat spiritual. A few years ago when I viewed my fathers dead body I was sure that he once had a spitit that had gone away from him. I am trying to find myself and don't know where to begin. I have always had a bizarre fascination with American Indians and have much respect for them. This includes thier untiy and respect for nature. I believe you can do anything you put your mind to. I silently wish others well. However, I can't seem to wrap my mind around good things for myself. I'm not sure where to begin. I believe in love but have no love in my life, other than my children, that is. I am reaching into the dark for guidence, is anyone there?

Yes, hon, someone IS there. But the path to spirituality is a very personal quest, and only you can decide the right path for you. Go to a bookstore or your local library, if they have an alternative religion section, and then look through the books until you find one that speaks to you. I am Wiccan, personally; that is the path that spoke to me. But there IS a path that will speak to you; it just may take a little research to find it for yourself. Good luck, and have fun with your search!

Have you thought about doing meditation to see what way you are taken?? It's wortha try. Pagan is close to Native American and so are a few other religions. Don't be forced into a place you don't want to be. It is a decision you have to make yourself!!! Hang yu there and it will come to you!!!

JR....give me a day or 2 to recover and I will explain to you my beliefs. I can not teach you online.....I can only share my beliefs. Like Lynne said, we each have our own paths to walk and none of us walk the exact same path. Our paths cross and we learn from each other.....take what we learned and keep what lessons we need and go on with our path. This is what we are doing here....our paths our crossing.

Once I can think and make sense of my own words, I will answer your question.

    Gentle huggles....

OK, JR....let me see if my mind is clear enough this morning to answer your questions.

I was taught there was one Creator and I send my prayers to the Creator but I also ask help from the other spirits of the world....spirit of the east, south, west and north. Each direction representing different animals which brings to us different human attributes.....family, strength, patience, etc. The animals are revered for the attributes they remind us of which is why when taking a life of an animal or even a plant, we thank the spirit of the sacrifice for its life giving properties. We also thank the winds, the rains, the sun and the Creator for giving us this food/medicine. We never take a whole plant nor do we dishonor an animal by not using all of its parts. Elder's (title not earned with age but by respect earned and wisdom) are always given respect! But the respect we are given depends on the respect we have earned. We treat others with the same respect that we expect to be treated with.

These are just some of my basic beliefs. If you have more questions, I'd be happy to answer them for you.

EVERYONE ELSE IS WELCOME TO JUMP IN HERE TOO,. I know there's lots of beliefs amongst our members. I would be interested to learn from you as well.

    gentle huggles....

I believe life is an amazing gift. A huge fluke. That every day is just a wonder. I don't believe in any higher beings, so I don't believe in any final judgment. The only judgments are your own. I believe there are things beyond my understanding. I am like an egg, i am the yolk, white and shell: I can't break out of my own limits. Sometimes people think there is some knowledge beyond, but this doesn't make sense. I cannot think/speak of what is beyond my limits, its a logical absurdity. I'm a scientific rationalist, this gives me immense freedom but also makes life very difficult to live - for there is no 'reason' to live and I must always motivate myself. No external motivations. I think the world is a beautiful place. I try not to allow myself to get carried away with material things and petty problems as they really are meaningless. One day I will die and I will decompose and be reborn as a flower, which will get eaten by an animal which will nourish it and create new life ans so on. I also believe everyone is free to believe anything! :)
