mixed marriage? What do you believe in?

Posted on 07/16/08, 03:56 pm
I have been married 8 years. We have 2 boys 5 and 7. My husband is a Christian and I am NOT. I grew up going to church but never believed. At different points in my life I tried to believe. But have come to the conclusion that I definately don't believe in a creator! When we dated and up until recently my husband didn't go to church or any of that. Now all of the sudden he is in it full force. I told him about 2 years ago that I AM NOT A BELIEVER. It is difficult. I would say that I am a spiritual person but I have no beliefs. I'm in the process of figureing out who I am and what I believe. Can't figure it out. I tried Depok Chopra for a while. He teaches some helpfull points but his belief that we are essentially no different from the tree growing outside the window isn't working for me. I am important and needed. I am much more than a tree! Does any one have any suggestions?? Any tips?? Advise?? I am slightly interested in Buddahism. I appreciate nature and believe in the power of suggestion, meditation and over all kind ness to all. What do you believe??? I truely appreciate any feed back!!!

I was raised in a Christian missionary home but spent a lot of time with my native Grandmother. I saw so much hypocracy in the church that I began to search and study. In my personal opinion, most of the major religions were created by man in order to control the masses. I could go on for a while on this issue alone but that was not your question.

I follow the path of my Grandmother....more spiritual than religion. I believe in a creator but my vision of the creator is that of a loving grandfather rather than a disciplinarian. I also believe there is power in all things. I believe that all spirits are connected and what happens to one will eventually affect all the others. I was taught to respect ALL things and people.....and that started with myself.

When I first turned back to the path of my ancestors my father called me a heathen. But as he watched my life he realized, I was probably closer to being what he strived to be as a Christian. One of my favorite quotes is "Religion is for those afraid of going to hell. Spirituality is for those who have been there."

If I can answer any questions for you, please feel free to send me a private message.

    Take care.....gentle huggles....

My mother was 7th day and she stayed away from the church do to thefactshegot pregnant out of weddlock. I had to struggle for 13 years before I found what I believe in and it was there all the time. I had goneeto many churches to see what gave me comfort but Basket is right, all churches are man made!!! When my grandmother died and Ik new before anyone could tell me and I cried until she came and sat beside me to tell me that she feels better now. She was with grandpa and her chest didn't hurt anymore. For three days my mother beat the living tar out of me because she smelled lilac perfume which was the only perfume grandma could wear and it was expensive because it is real lilac juice made into an oil. Hence the reason I calm down when I smell lilac and there is a reason it is my favorite flower. For three days my grandmother would come and tuck me in and I didn't find this out until my brother told me that is why mom got mad was she saw I was already tucked in and she could smell the lilacs!!! Since then I know where I belong even though I gave my childrens name back to GOD in a dedication at the Assembly of God church. I am Pagan as so was my grandmother and my daughter and I am pretty sure my mother is but she wants admit it. Funny I feel the strongest are those that believe in mother earth, guidance and giving back to nature and meditation. Hope you can find your way because it feels so much better when you do!!!
