So today after church, Chris and I signed our 2 oldest boys up for our church's school. Do any of you have your kids going to a Christian school? Do you like it? We really dont want them in public schools, too many heathens!! Plus we want our kids to get this wonderful Christian education that you just cant get in public schools.

I have been reading over this post for the past couple days and have finally decided to say my piece on Christian Schools.....My father was a Christian school teacher off and on for my entire youth..While I do believe the principles and the Biblical doctorine that are given as part of the ciriculum are invaluable...however, depending on what ages your children are now, you are in for a revolt. The older they are the worse it will be. When, for the last time, I had to change schools, it was to the Christian School from which I did graduate from. However, having not known anyone and being the newest addition to the class..my presence was not welcomed to say the least.
Please, if you are going to put your children in a Christian School, do it when they are YOUNG. Do not be fooled by the title attached to the school.

MY EXPERIENCES GROWING UP AROUND KIDS IN CHRISTIAN SCHOOL, AND SEEING THE PARENTS THAT PUT THERE KIDS IN CHRISTIAN SCHOOL HAS JUST INGRAINED A ROTTEN ATTITUDE TOWARDS CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS, AND I JUST CAN'T GET PASSED THE STIGMA ENOUGH TO PUT MY SON IN A CHRISTIAN SCHOOL.
I WANT MY SON TO GO THROUGH THE "REAL WORLD" WITH HIS ONLY SHELTER BEING THE WISDOM THAT HIS MOM AND I GIVE HIM AS WE WALK BESIDE HIM GUIDING HIM ON HIS JOUNEY THROUGH THE ROUGH AND RUGGED PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM.
I WANT HIM TO LEARN HOW TO ACT AROUND ALL TYPES OF PEOPLE AND NOT JUST THE GOOD LITTLE CHRISTIAN BOYS AND GIRLS BECAUSE IN THE "REAL WORLD" THERE'S A MIX OF THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY, AND I WANT MY SON TO BE ABLE TO HANDLE IT IN A MANNER WHERE HE IS AS SHREWD AS A SERPANT, BUT AS INNOCENT AS A DOVE.
JESUS GATHERED AROUND THE SINNERS OF THE WORLD TO BE A LIGHT, AND THAT IS THE EXAMPLE THAT I WANT MY SON TO BE "IN" THE WORLD, NOT JUST IN A NICE LITTLE NEAT CHRISTIAN CIRCLE OF THE WORLD. -

Kidsintowe03, our kids are young they are 7 & 5. I figured if they were older it would be difficult on them to start a school with so few people, as everyone already knows each other and no one wants to accept the "outsider". I really apperciate your honesty in your reply!!
We have a different view of what we want for our kids other than the "real world" there are things in either school that our kids dont need to be around, BUT we want to give them a shield against it all, and theres none better than giving them the word of our Lord to arm themselves with. And we know we cant do it alone, so who better to help us teach our children about Him, than the people they know and love already. -

momwith4....I can certainly respect your desire to provide somewhat of a shield for your children! And the ages that they are now..they will befriend others so much easier than a teen would.
Ultimately, it comes down to your family's conviction as to what to do with your children's education.

Honestly, my kids go to public schools and they get more "christian training" than most would in a public school. My thoughts are that the training/discipline/upbringing is not the school's responsibility but the parents' responsibilities. i went through Christian school K-12 and i'm no better or worse off than any kid who went a public school. It's just that my "christian training" came more from home than school. That's the way i'm raising my girls but yet they are in public school. (to put my 3 kids through one year of public school would cost almost 30,000 dollars and that i just don't have!) Anyhow... this was just my opinion. -

Gzus, we never dreamed we would be able to put our kids in a school like this, we feel that God has provided a way (i'm gonna start keeping my niece and nephew yup, gives me 6!!!) and with that money, we will pay tuition. I never got to go to a private school either and wanted to. So I dont feel there is ANY reason for you to be sorry!!
livin4thefuture, I understand where youre coming from too, thats why i asked the question. I'm curious as to how other parents feel about it and if they have had any experiences in this. Our oldest is 7, so this is a first for us. We are also not expecting the school to be the sole educators to our children about Christ. I know it starts at home. But we feel going to this school will help out so much. There is no "speak" of our Lord in our public schools. My kids arent allowed to pray over their lunch!!! I guess tuition is cheaper in the south, to put 2 of our 4 kids in the tuition is only 3,600 a year. If it was 30,000 like where you are, we could not do it either!! Thank you for your opinion!! :o) -

WELL BEING THE FATHER OF 2 BOYS WITH BIRTH DEFECTS... MY EXPIERENCE WITH PUBLIC SCHOOLS ISNT PRETTY..MY EXPERIENCE WITH CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS IS GOOD ...BUT KEEPING GOOD TEACHERS AND AFFORDING THEM CAN BE OVERWHELMING..SO I HOME SCHOOLED INSTEAD..A VERY BIG TASK AT FIRST BUT WELL WORTH IT IN THE END..IF YOU USE ALL YOUR RESOURCES AVAILABLE IE INTERNET AND SCHOOLING GROUPS IT CAN BE VERY REWARDING AND YOU CAN AVOID THE STIGMATISM THAT IS ASOCIATED WITH HOME SCHOOLING
