anyone here had a personal trainer?
how was it?
how much did it cost?
did you have a private personal trainer or one at a gym?
what was your overall experience?
what would you have changed?

or... is anyone a personal trainer themselves?
how do you like it?
what would you change?
are you private or at a gym?

Yes, I have a personal trainer, have been with him awhile now, he first worked at the gym, but now works for a personal training studio.I bought a package that was not cheap at all, I do like training with him, & I did learn alot from him, but after my sessions are up, i'm done for awhile, beacause it is costly, The only thing, I would of changed is him pushing me harder. I do workout on my own, & do take yoga reguarly, so I still excercise, which will be enough for me now!!! :)

Did you discuss what your needs were? How is the communication.

Did the cost go up when he worked for the studio instead?
What do you think is a reasonable charge for a trainer?

Do you guys have any kind of good dynamics?... i mean... do you guys have good communication and anticipation of what is needed? or is it still like a guessing game according to a chart or something?

(I am asking all these questions because I am a certified trainer and hope to soon get back into it when my baby is a little older... I just need feedback so I can do a great job for my clients)

I've been with this trainer for a couple of years now, at the gym he did seem to be cheaper, & when we first started we went over what I wanted to accomplish, but lately, he just seems to get in & out, so at this time, i'm not really not happy with him as a trainer, & his hours could be more flexible!!!

We do have good communication skills, sometimes!!!

After my sessions are over, I won't be signing up with him again

I feel there needs to be some sort of partnership between the trainer and client... some sort of glue that works well as a team.

I think that most people don't want to pay someone to just go through the motions.

The gyms around here are all so different for trainers. Some involve a bunch of sales too. I am not a salesperson.

    mikecing...
    does she enjoy it?
does she train from the basement or does she visit people in their homes?

Yeah she does enjoy it. She didn't like working the hours or for the pay in the chain fitness centers in town, so we built a personal studio in the basement. She has 10-12 clients that come in 2-3 times per week. She does all the training in the basement. Its not as big as a gym, but has everything she needs to give a good one-on-one workout.

that is fantastic! that is kind of what I was thinking...
but I really would like to get some home training going... maybe teach people how to train in their own homes, or train them in the gym as a visitor (with all the crazy paperwork that may entail)
