When I had a roomate, I constantly compared myself to her. She didn't have an eating disorder, and we had completely different lifestyles. But, I obsessively counted my calories, and then I would count hers, too! If I thought I ate more than she did, I flipped.
We had seperate bathrooms, so purging was still easy. Even when I was doing better, I had safe foods. I always worried what she thought about me for eating the way that I did.
When I lived alone, it was way easy to binge and purge, and no one noticed if I didn't eat anything. I wouldn't even go shopping, and just had jello, diet coke, and other bullshit ED food. Sometimes I liked it better though because I need alone time or I get stressed out. And, when I was recovering, it was nice to not have to eat in front of people, and just do my own thing.
So, I don't have an answer!! My ED was there with or without the roomate-- I can always work around others if I want it bad enough, you know?

Roomate or no roomate?

I know this is probably different for every person, but I was just curious about which was better for all of you concerning recovery from ED: roomate or no roomate?
For me, it's easier now that I'm in a single room. No more triggering food in the room I could possibly steal and binge on (and of course replace it). Plus, less "light" conversations about food.
What about you guys?
