The Charity Challenge is Complete!

Posted by nicholas - 05/29/08, 07:11 pm

Hi everyone,

Well you all did it! The Charity Challenge is over, and there are many new members in a wide variety of Groups! We'll be contacting the founders of Groups that will be receiving awards. Thanks everyone for growing your groups and being such awesome members of DailyStrength!

Welcome!

Posted by nicholas - 04/24/08, 01:58 am

Welcome to the DS Charity Challenge group! We've created this group to be a place where people can read the rules, find tips, and ask questions.

We're all excited about the Challenge, and are hoping groups get really involved. We love the idea of helping a lot of worthwhile charities, and seeing member groups and DailyStrength as a whole grow even larger and more active and supportive.

Please take a chance to read through the Rules, FAQs, and Tips. If you have other questions, post them as discussions here. We'll be checking in regularly to respond to your questions, concerns, and ideas. We'll also be posting updates, so be sure to check back!

Challenge Rules

New Members:

New members must register through your group home page. Don't send members to the DailyStrength main homepage to register, as we won't be able to record them for your group.

New members that register through your group must not have, or have had, an existing DS account. The new members must complete the registration process, including email confirmation, and successfully login to your group. Please note that it is DailyStrength's sole determination as to what constitutes a new member.

Tracking New Members:

DailyStrength will keep track of how many new members have registered to a group during the charity challenge. There is no need to independently keep track.

Eligibility: Every DailyStrength member group that follows our Terms of Service may participate.

Member groups do not need to sign up for the challenge; every DS member group in good standing is automatically in the challenge.

Charity Awards:

Within a week of the end of the challenge, DS staff will reach out to any groups that have reached the minimum number of members and will work with them to locate and contact the requested charity.

Here are the Awards:

* 25 new members: DS will donate $50 to a charity.

* 50 new members: DS will donate $100 to a charity.

* 100 new members: DS will donate $200 to a charity & Founder will receive a DS T-shirt.

* For the first 10 groups that reach 250 members: DS will donate $500 to a charity & Founder will receive a DS T-shirt.

* The top Group above 250 members: DS will donate $1000 to a charity & Founder will receive a DS T-shirt.

Charities:

We ask that all charities chosen are formally recognized as charities, and may accept monetary donations as a 501(C)(3) organization (most charities are set up like this).

Recruiting:

We ask that participants not offer monetary or any other compensation to new users they recruit.

Also, participants may not offer monetary or any other compensation to those who recruit new users on their behalf.

Email / Spam:

Email can be a powerful tool for communicating with potential members. However, we don’t encourage sending email to people you don’t know, as that’s considered spam. For example, if you join a MSN or Yahoo group, and send the same email to each member's email address, they may regard you as a spammer.

You'll get the best response if you post in groups, discussion boards, and websites where other people recognize you as a member or active participant.

Competition:

As long as competition is friendly and healthy and is focused on the outcome of helping charities, we're all for it. Please refrain from any negative posts about other member groups.

 Legal:

Although we don't expect to make any changes, for legal reasons DailyStrength retains the right to terminate this challenge or adjust the terms of this challenge at any time.
