TOPIC pages... Suggestion from Neuropathy Group

I'm very involved in my community As an example... we have over 65 photos of what is going on inside you... to help with ALL types of PAIN and the management of such... Over 100 links - the research is done for you... http://dailystrength.org/groups/ne...

With that said... we need DS's help for some of the nerve damage group of people...
Just since last night... I have realized.... when chatting with members of the group...

The way your page is set up right now, it's currently a FOUR step process to see the second page of topics. See below for further info.

Some people don't know they had to go back to the top and click VIEW ALL then to go back to the bottom to click on TWO to see the second page of topics. It took me over 5 lines of instructions for them to understand this in a chat.

This explains that I get an AWESOME response from people if something has fallen off the top page onto page TWO if I have to bring the topic back to the top... It also explains why I get messages from people saying "I can't find it". It seems simple to us - but trust me... it's not to those who don't know how to navigate or in our case sometimes brain injured is why they have nerve damage due to accidents, strokes, etc.

When you click on VIEW ALL, the numbers of how many pages then appear near the bottom.
IS THERE A WAY for you to keep those numbers at the bottom ALL the time so that it's not a 4 step process... 1.) looking at the titles of topics from top to bottom, 2.) go back to the top to click VIEW ALL 3.) go BACK TO THE BOTTOM with scroll bar and 4.) click on #2 to see the second page of topics.

    Hi,
I appreciate what your saying, and we'll look into solutions for making it easier to navigate between discussion post pages.

Have you been able to look into this yet?

I'm still having to bring topics from pages 2 -4 back to the top in our group because people are not finding topics. The don't even know the additional pages exist. It's not obvious when you get to the bottom of the page that you have to go back to the top, click "view all" then scroll back to the bottom to notice the slight difference in the 1 - 7 additional pages of topics.

Can you also consider an option to view more topics on a home / top page?

I'm not here to start trouble. I have a suggestion. Instead of having to bump or bring up Topics from your back pages you could put this one on the Discussion Board and just bump it back up as needed. The part in the ***'s would be the Topic name. The rest the body. I hope this helps.

I made it on my Group (Beating Trich) if you would like to see how it looks before you put it up. Again only trying to help. I know it gets frustrating when it seems the bugs aren't getting worked out.

***How to View All Topics on This Board.***

HI Everyone. I'm glad you have come to our Group, I hope you will find information that helps you here.

Some people have had trouble navigating their way thru our pages, so I wanted to put this post up to help anyone that may be confused.

There are MANY topics here, all you need to do to go thru the list to find ones that interest you is to:

    1) Go up and click the Back to Discussions link at the top of this Topic.

    2) After looking at the Topics on the first page you can then go to the bottom of the first page and there you will find a line of numbers. Those are to the other pages available.

    3) From there you can either click on the page # you wish to view or just click on the Next button and it will take you to the next page in order.

    I added this to mine.

A reminder: As on the regular boards the list does not stay the same. If someone replies to a Topic then that Topic will then jump to the 1st page, to the top of the list. It brings it to everyone's attention again and then everyone can see what you said and answer if you asked a question.

    ------------------------------

In this post you could also instruct them how to make a post if you have been having questions about that. Just use this Topic to cover the basics. Re-name it to How to use the Discussion Area or something like that.
