So, I hear...

Hi everyone, I'm new here. I've been watching the other board for a few weeks and not getting involved because it seems so hostile. I just came across this group and certainly hope that it's much more friendly.

I will post my story at some point, but for right now I just need to hear some friendly reassurance.

Is it true that the first week is the hardest and that it DOES get easier? We've been apart for months already, but now that it's not just training anymore...

The hardest part to me is more than a week. Its more like the first month or so. Than it gets harder the closer it gets to the end of tour date. But in between it gets "better". Just try and stay busy! lots of us here on DS are supportive and are going through the same thing. So theres many to talk to that are in your situation! Welcome to the group we are a group of Niceness lol!!!

Thanks. I was worried that you might all be a bunch of meanies :) Just kidding! I will say that I'm feeling a lot better than I was last week, I've gotten a few emails and know that he's safe. I'm still not sure where exactly he is... other than the basic answer of "Iraq." I don't think that's uncommon.

I send a bunch of packages over this weekend, it made me feel better.

Yeah, keep yourself busy. I've never been through a deployment, not yet, but everyone keeps saying it so there has to be some truth, yeah? :)

And no, these guys aren't meanies. :) They'll all truly try to help you anyway possible.

Not to incite drama, but apparently I have offended someone on the other board. That was never my intention, however after reading several posts over there I really just did not find it a good fit for me. I think that support is excellent regardless of where it comes from however a random post just complaining about people that gets fed into by all of the other regulars... well that just is not something I would prefer to be involved with.

I much prefer that MY drama come from home :)

I apologize if I have again offended anyone...
