ARE YOU SURE YOUR DOG FOOD IS SAFE??

About three months ago I went to a new place to groom my Cairn Terriers. I got into a discussion with the owner who is an absolute dog nut (which I love)about my one dogs allergies. He scratches so bad he rips his hair out. She started questioning me about the food I use and assured her it was a veterinary formuala for hair and coat and my vet had switched me to it. She introduced me to a new all natural dog food , which was the same price and told me I could get a full refund if I wasn't pleased. She was sure the itching would stop and said each month my dogs coats would get more beautiful.

I was very skeptical but tried anyways. Everything she told me happened.

The most serious part of this story though, is when I went on line and started researching dog foods and the preservatives that not only cause allergies but disease I was shocked that some of these preservatives where in the food I had been given them. I thought because the vet recommended it, it had to be good and safe.

Check the ingredients in your dogs food. Check the preservatives. Lots of information is available on line detailing the dangers of these preservatives.

The food I am using now is called "Abundant Living" They love it and they require less also. No preservatives. It can be ordered on line also in case anyone is interested.

  Good post! Many of us check the label on the things we eat; why not our precious dogs?

  That is right. And by the way -----the food is called Life Abundant. I am not pushing any food---just suggest we really need to to check the labels. Some of these potentially poisonous ingredients are reported to actually shorten the lifespan of our babies. DISGUSTING!!!!!!!

  YOU CAN GOOGLE "LIFE ABUNDANT DOG FOOD". WHEN IS DID, IT EVEN CAME UP SOLD ON AMAZON. IT IS PROBABLY MORE EXPENSIVE THAN WHAT YOU ARE BUYING, BUT YOU FEED YOUR DOG LESS, SO IT PROBABLY WORKS OUT SIMILAR IN PRICE ONLY NUTRITIOUS. I JUST CAN'T BELIEVE HOW MUCH HEALTHIER MY DOGS EVEN LOOK.

For those of us who see our dogs as a part of the family and our best friend, and would like to share with us why they are wonderful, and would like for their memories to live on in this forum
