A few motnhs ago I had a bad accident and whilst looking for internal injuries they discovered cysts on my ovaries. I got a phone call last week from my GP diagnosing me with PCOS. I have been reffered to a specialist but I have't got an appointment yet. Whilst looking through the internet I heard about a drug called metmorphine (I don't know how it's spelt) and was wondering if anyone could tell me more about it. I have been slim all my life until that last 2 years and I am now overweight. I eat healthily (I do allow myself treats from time to time) and I exercise but the wait isn't budging. I hate it and I'm beginning to hate myself. Any advice? Thanks.

ah metformin it worked well for me. i was lucky if my period came every 2 months though it ranged from 1-3 months apart. while on it the first time i lost 30lbs in ten months. then got pregnant. this time around ive been on it 6 weeks and my period seems to be normalized as i ovulated this month and my period is due this friday actually and i got pms like clockwork earlier this week. as well i lost 17lbs this month! but i am also breast feeding so that is also helping tremendously as well.

many people get gastro problems with it. normally lasts up to 2 months i no longer do. after 3 weeks it was gone. but some people never get over the gastro side effects.

i hope they sent you to an endocrinologist rather than a gyno. they are a little more knowledgeable about the hormones and their effects. and may be able to offer treatment for more than just infertility and things relating to it. like the exsess hair.. and all the other fun things that come with pcos.
