A POEM.......
Posted on 06/19/08, 04:17 pm
I'd like to share a poem I wrote about complacency, I think we all feel it sometimes, hope it helps someone in someway.
LESSONS LEARNED
Sailing along on the peaceful sea
Sun at my back, waves lapping,
The sky azure blue, all is calm
I was even sometimes caught napping.
Problems tried to surface from the deep
But I abrubtly pushed them aside,
After the storms recently endured
Nothing could ruin this peaceful ride.
Yet somewhere in my heart I knew
For He had taught me this lesson before,
"There will be days of clear sailing",He said
"But days with storms will be more".
He taught me this lesson very well
So I'd not be caught off guard,
I wouldn't feel so helpless and alone
Finding Him wouldn't be so hard.
I have to keep Him close, even when
That coveted peace is but a touch,
I know I'll need Him in the storms
But on clear days just as much.
I knew when the clouds darkened
The ship tossed, and the sea sprayed,
I was in for another onslaught
Another storm was on the way.
This time I'd be more prepared
I quickly grabbed Faith and Trust
Grace and Mercy were my life-vest
These I knew were a must.
I remembered my Praise and Worship
My Thanfulness I held with firm grip,
I couldn't be caught without them
Not on this, or any other trip.
I looked around for my Captain
He stood firmly beckoning from the shore,
This time I wouldn't have to look for Him
I'd learned this lesson before.
There will be many fair days
But with no warning, storms will assail,
If I will just keep Him close
He's the anchor that will not fail.
