It was black and white, subtitled. the theme developed around a glove that one after another people bought at yard sales and such. But on purchasing they were warned that they must must must sell the glove, and at a lower price than they bought it. I watched the movie until it was bought for a sou, (French coin?) the smallest unit of currency.
Then the saddest thing happened. I was under curfew and had to be home by 10:00 p.m. I got up from the movie at the height of its drama and went home.
The memory has never left me.
I told the story to my mother and she was captivated by the drama of it. Then I said: "I had to come away because I had to be home by 10:00."
This was in 1960. Can anybody, even at this late stage, help me and my mother out of our misery? Did anybody else see that movie?
