Small Wonders

I was looking at a computer screen at the library on which there was a highly magnified screen of leopard's fur. I had to stop for a minute and marvel at it. These tiny hairs, so perfectly placed to form those spots were amazing. Everyone admires the beauty of these animals, but to look so closely gave a sense of wonder.
That made me think of all the other animals so wonderfully crafted, from the wild exotic animals to our domesticated animals. I don't know how many people just walk on by, or how many look at such things but don't really see them. For me it was profound.

This earth and its inhabitants are truly nothing short of a miracle..... I have always been amazed by the details. I'm finding it interesting to become present to my animals. One on my kittens stares at me and becomes present with me. It's amazing. What's interesting is I named him Tolle!!! I must have known somehow that he would be a zen kitty... -

Children seem to notice things that adults don't notice anymore. my grandson found a caterpillar last summer and took it in the back yard and sat and looked at it for about an hour, When i heard him laughing i went out to see what he was doing and he had the caterpillar crawling on his arm. wouldn't it be nice to feel that way again. -

I look at nature as a child everyday.. The lake is my refuge and where I find the silence that helps me grow.. I gain the wisdom to understand the growth through meditation, but my recognition of the growth, comes from the silence of Nature around me...
