I was diagnosed with bursitis in my hip--which of course is excruciating. I am just wondering if anyone else ever had this excruciating pain--and it not be bursitis--or if they too had bursitis. It stinks. Just wondering if the dr knows anything.

" I too was diagnosed with Bursitis in my Left Hip only and it was so bad I could not lie on that side at night, it would wake me up if I did. Had 2 lots of cortisone injected into the joint with no relief, then saw a wonderful old country doctor known for his ability to heal pain and sure enough, after a few of his injections into the muscle around it the pain was gone. I had the bursitis by then for over a year. "

" Had bursitis in both shoulders. Had cortisone injections and they helped. Aspirin also helped me. Just plain old bufferin seemed to do more than anything "

" I also have bursitis in my shoulders and hips, but after the medication kicked in for the Lupus, my pain is better. However, my hips are still bad, I have to use the motorized carts when in a store shopping. "

" Hi, I have bursitis in my right hip and my left shoulder that send shooting pains down my leg and my arm. Do you get this too? The pain is indeed excruciating and I'm trying to decide if I should go ahead with the cortisone shots..... "

" Well cortisone shot should be a last resort. I opted first for Physical Therapy and it turned out I had a structural problem. This is something a PT can detect--like a shorter leg or offset hips, etc. I recommend that. I know how bad the pain is but unless you have tried to work with it shots of anykind should be last resort. "

" I have had severe and chronic pain in my right hip for years and now its starting in my left hip. I saw and immunologist re lupus and he checked out my hip and diagnoses tronchenitus (?sp) in my hips which is the name for bursitis in both hips. I can't sleep on either side. I also have multiple sclerosis and fibromyalgia but the pain from the hips is the most unbearable so my heart goes out to you. I have had orthotics made to re-balance the and fix the struture problems and should finally take the pressure from the hips. cant believe I have put up with the pain for so long and no one else, gp's, physiotherapist, nuerologist, bowen therapist, has picked up on it. I also have had bursitis in shoulder, knee and index finger so something else must be going on but the difference in the hip pain since othortics is amasing.suggest you get to see a podiastrist to have it checked out. good luck "
