The blogs, both liberal and conservative, are full of stories about rising subtle and not so subtle calls for violence against Obama from the McCain campaign.
A former McCain staffer (Frank Shaeffer from the 2000 campaign) wrote: "You have changed. You have a choice: Go down in history as a decent senator and an honorable military man with many successes, or go down in history as the latest abettor of right-wing extremist hate." I read that the reason Colin Powell didn't run for the presidency in 2000 was because his wife was afraid that he would be assasinated. Obama surely knew that running for president would be dangerous. But did he know that a fellow senator would be stirring up the hornets nest of violence? http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/o... I think you can actually go to prison for saying the things that is being said to and about Obama, such as saying "kill him". Even calling Bush a terrorist is toeing the illegal line!
