Before a couple of months ago, NOBODY knew of her. So with that statement, I would like to ask, What Makes Sarah Palin an Ideal Candidate?

" Just because you had never heard of her doesn't mean that others hadn't. The populations of Alaska, Western Canada, and Washington State definitely knew of her. It's Biden that nobody outside of that little fly speck called Delaware had really heard of. Perhaps the people that you speak of are uninformed. "

" I don't think that's accurate Steveng5691 but then again most of your posts are inaccurate so I'm not surprised. I just heard several commentators and authors say they had not heard of Sarah Palin before five weeks ago.

To answer your question Aires she is not an idealistic candidate but a conservative ideologue. She can’t even list a single publication she reads and believes rape victims should pay for their test kits. She doesn’t know anything about what is happening in our economy and is even less informed when it come to foreign affairs. I find her annoyingly ignorant and would rather have someone who is intellectually curious in the white house for a change. I’m tired of the folksy hateful demeanor of Bush and now Palin. "

" Regressive,

Maybe you need to find better informed commentators instead of the faux-intellectuals that you listen to. "

" I don't think she is any where near an Ideal candidate. However she has "managed" a small town government. "Managed" a state government and managed a business. Obama has not "managed" anything. In SOME respects does this not make her a little more qualified than Obama? I think she as learned much in the last few weeks. I am sure she will learn much more before the election.
Funny though that she has only been in the spotlight for a few weeks and we know more about her that Obama who has been around for much longer. "

" Steven,
Your reply #1, as true as it might be, still does not answer Aries's question. What makes her an ideal candidate? The rest of the US wants to know, "faux-intellectual" or not. Funny, I thought researching and questioning a person's past and credentials with healthy skepticism was anything but ignorant. Blind faith was SO last administration! ;-)

To all others, your own words would be more helpful...anyone can ctrl+c & ctrl+v. "

" She's the ideal candidate because, like George W. Bush, she's a tabula rasa, a clean slate, she's very ambitious, and her intelligence is inverse to her ambition.

The powers behind the throne, the Dick Cheneys and Carl Roves, will be able to mould her into whatever they want to mould her into. "

" The vice-presidential candidate has usually been considered the president-in-waiting and Palin is a suitable candidate because she's demonstrated that she is outside of the typical Washington lobbyist influence. On the other hand, Obama is applying for the top job but has the weak experience in his ticket. Both he and his running mate have never met a payroll or run an administration and are therefore completely untested. Both Obama and Biden have also demonstrated a propensity to promote earmarks and have never gone against their party on any decision. I'm looking for leadership qualities as opposed to party loyalty. " She is easy on the eye but a lightweight. God help us if McCain wins and dies. Palin as president would make Bush appear good. Anyone who genuinely believes the earth is 4000 years old is an intelectual dwarf and not fit for office. "
