Obama scraps visit to wounded troops

What in the hell is wrong with this guy? This guy's judgment is not only questionable, but sickening. What is he afraid of.... making the people on the Daily Kos mad, you know the ones. The ones who call our troops murderers, gang members, poorly educated with no prospects, torturers, and rapists. Since people like them are the ones funding his little "citizen of the world jaunt." Maybe he didn't visit the wounded, because he feels their chickens have come home to roost. Way to instill trust, and good will with the military, and he wants to be Commander in Chief? I really am starting not only to dislike, and distrust him, but to actually despise him. I agree with McCain, there is never an appropriate reason to NOT visit the wounded. Never. Military members, veterans, and families who love them. This is a HUGE red flag. I hope we don't ignore it, or try to justify it. There are NO excuses here in my opinion. Shame on Obama for spending time with foreign strangers, and NO time with American heroes wounded in service to their country and to the world.

" "The Pentagon in a statement cited longstanding Defense Department policy that prohibits military personnel or facilities from association with partisan political campaigns and elections."

This is why he didn't go ab. Why only print one side of the story? "

" My name is Loves2read, Sharon, but back to the topic at hand. Obama visited Walter Reed in June. It was a campaign pit-stop to drum up anti-Veteran administration support. Walter Reed in a US military facility isn't it? Your response is how the Huffington Post explains it, which is not what his campaign originally said. So which is it? What his campaign originally told reporters, or how liberal bloggers are justifying it. I guess back in June, he wasn't worried about the Pentagon. if it was a long standing plicy, I guess he just ignored it in June. "

If you look at the site below you'll find that DOD makes policies only for those who are subject to DOD guidelines. This does not include US Senators or Private citizens.

As someone who worked in DOD Public Affairs in Europe, I can tell you that had Barak Obama wanted to pay his respects to the troops, he would have been allowed to do so either as a private citizen or a Senator. The Commander of the unit he was visiting would only have asked that he bring no press with him and do no campaigning while there. Those are pretty simple rules.

Also, if he thought it was inappropriate, why then did he visit with some of the troops in Iraq and Afganistan?

" I can understand why he didn't want a visit to the troops to be partisan visit. It would offend me if I was one of the troops. His trip to Walter Reed was as a senator and for that the pentagon allows. There are no hidden agendas here just your overactive imagination trying to smear a good candidate. Get over it and stop pretending to be neutral. "
