Paget's disease

I am 43 years old and have been recently dx'd w/ extramammary Paget's disease - help! This is listed under vulvar cancers but my doctor has described it as a skin condition; I don't know what this means. He has prescribed an 8 week course of 5FU chemo cream and I'm having trouble tolerating it. The next course of action is what he describes in his report as "cosmetically disfiguring surgery". He has also told me that this is a chronic condition which will probably require further medical treatment. Does anyone have any experience with this disease? I live in a small town in upstate NY and I feel very isolated and desperately need any info. from women who have gone through this.

" Cjoyce hi,
Sorry to hear you've got this problem. I would consider getting a second opinion among other steps you could take. I've sent you a pm with some info which might help.
Cheers,
Terrafirma. "
