Natural pet products...

I'm desperately searching for a natrual flea remedy. I was in the pet store a few weeks ago looking for a product because my dog has a bad flea problem.
I was surprised when I picked up a package of Frontline (the once a month liquid that goes on the back of your pet's neck) and read a warning statement that said "harmful to humans and domestic animals". SERIOUSLY?? Let's see...wouldn't a dog be considered a DOMESTIC ANIMAL??? Are they seriously selling us this stuff to be used on our treasured family pets?? Unbelievable!
OK, now that I've gotten my little rant out of the way...anyone know of anything natural that I can use on my pup to keep fleas off of him? I asked the lady at the healthfood store and she said tea tree oil might work but she wasn't 100% sure. Can't find anything on the internet to back that up, either.

Here are just a couple of websites I ran across. Thanks for posting this! I just got a puppy and I had no idea about that frontline stuff! I was told to get it, but I'll see if I can't deter them without jeopardizing our health! Good luck! "

" Eucalyptus essential oil should work. I use it to keep bugs out of my plants and on my cat. A freind uses it on her dog and it works for her. Dilute the oil in water...it dosn't take much oil to make it in a spray bottle. It's harmless to pets and humans. "

" Those are interesting sites. I would never have thought of garlic or blackwalnuts would keep fleas away.

I have used frontline. I believe they mean if the dog was to get ahold of it and chew it. I put rubber gloves on and make sure the container is disposed of properly. My dog never had problems when I used it. I just use shampoos and flea posders now as they are less expensive and work. "

" Apparently, Frontline and others like it are harmful even if absorbed by the skin. If I put it on the back of my puppy's neck, wouldn't he most likely absorb it through his skin? Besides, I make sure that we eat organic foods and I use chemical free cleaning products...so why use harmful chemicals on my dog? It just doesn't make sense to me. Thanks for the suggestions and the website links! "

" I am no scientist but maybe front line is more dangerous to people than animals. I do wear the rubber gloves because it can be absorbed in the human skin. A animal would have tougher skin so maybe it doesn't absord the same into them. Maybe is like chocolate. We can eat chocolate. But a dog eating certain chocolate can die from it. Just a guess. "
