I initially reacted with that wasn't nice either and was rude. On the other hand, your friend just doesn't understand and/or isn't informed of what they are putting in their body. Just ignorance is all.
Maybe over time, you may be able to share more information or they will be curious why and if they see changes in you. They may be peaked for interest. Don't let the comment bother you and take it as a positive to hopefully inform, over time, at the right times.
