Vegan cheese?
So I'm not quite 100% vegan, but I refuse to eat pure-dairy cheese. I opt for the "dairy-free" cheese, even …

I'm a vegetarian. Went vegan. Then, technically, back to vegetarian later on because of money issues [trust me I'd give anything to go back purely vegan, if you have any cheap vegan recipes lemme know!], but not entirely eating any dairy.
Like I won't eat dairy yogurt or dairy milk or eggs, and I try my best to avoid foods that have these in them, but won't flat-out refuse it. I do eat one or two dairy things, though, ie cottage cheese and as-vegan-as-I-can-afford veggie cheese. Just wondering, who else is in the middle of vegetarian-veganism? I eat a lot of Amy's brand vegetarian foods. They are somewhat organic and each meal is about $4.59 where I am. A lot of those are vegan.
It's really hard to be vegan, I agree. I will probably go vegan when I can afford it better too. In the meantime, at least we are trying our best.

i am so in the middle. i will not drink milk, will not just eat a slice of cheese but i will have things with cheese in them or milk in them. try to avoid though. i only eat local free range eggs. i'd like to get away from that. don't do it that often. would love to go full vegan. closer than i think if i could only train my stomach.

I think eating vegan is cheep!!! You just have to avoid the processed vegan stuff. I spend so little on groceries. I buy veggies, fruit, whole grains, and that's about it. It takes time and planning, but now it is my way of life.
I understand where you are. I used to be there too.

Airfigaro speaks the truth -- what could be cheaper than cutting out the most expensive and fattening food groups? Cook up some rice and lentils tonight with a dose of vegan bouillon. You'll eat like a king for pennies a day!

I'm like that too... only it's not for monetary reasons. It;s because I still live at home with my parents and, well, I also have an eating disorder and it's hard enough to explain to my parents that my vegetarianism is not and eating disorder thing, it's purely my choice... they have so far accepted that but I still need to work on the vegan thing. Once I move out on my own vegan it is for me though!

I have this problem too. Every single day I tell myself I will not eat anything with dairy or cheese in it, yet I do anyway. I get annoyed with it.

oooo! im constantly going back and forth..
trader joes is suuuuuuch a great help, but it doesn't cut out all of the costs.. the AMY brand foods are amazing, but cost a lot where i live. if you can, plan out what you eat, try and make more meals yourself using vegan foods, opposed to searching for expensive pre-made meals. i save a lot by buying large quantities of veggies, etc. and refrigerate everything leftover for the next day.
