" That's all up to you.

Do YOU want to?

If you do, cool, go talk with your dr. and possibly a uroligist that does reversals and see what they say and think.

If you really don't want to - you absolutely have to be honest with your wife to be and explain to her that is not really what you want. "

" My DH had a reversal about 19 months ago. His was a technical sucess, but only had swimmers on his left side. Also it has taken 19 months for us to get pregnant and then lost the baby. My DH's vasectomy was done 6 years prior to the reversal. The best results are those done 4 years out. In your case, the odds are not in your favor for a succesful reversal. (Sorry, I don't mean to be negative.)

If you do want to have children, then honestly, IVF would probably be better since they can do a sperm aspiration rather than the reversal. It is very painful despite what Dr.'s tell you. My DH hurt for months afterwards. It's only been within the past 6 momths that he is getting back to normal, but any extended activity hurts him. It was the most painful thing I have ever watched someone go through.

Anyway...only you can choose what is best for you and your family. If you want to have children then you can definitely go that route or IVF. I would speak to a fertility urologist and get a consult before making any decisions. Also, if you do, make sure that you do microscopic surgery as the results are better. "

" You absolutely have to be aligned on this topic. My DH had a reversal in November 2007. Since, we've been TTCing and there's no news to report. In his case the sperm count is low, and we have to manage our expectations as his vasectomy was 16 years ago. Our urologist thinks that getting pregnant within one year is highly unlikely - so, maybe I'll have news in 2009! "
