When I went to my doctor about the ic,I explained to him that my periods are very bad.I bleed for at least 10 days,so heavy,I feel like I am being tortured.I asked him since I have had 3 kids,2 still births,a d&e,and 2 times of my tubes being cut, tied and burned if that could have anything to do with it.He is talking about doing something where he burns the lining of my uterus or something like that.my question, will that just make my periods lighter or totally stop.I wish they would just do a hysterectomy.

Hello!! You and I sound just alike! I just had an ablation where they burn away the lining of your uterus two weeks ago tomorrow.I have heard such wonderful things about it.Well today at my post op visit I found out I have cancer & will need a hysterectomy. It will have to be done by an obgyn specialist. If you want to talk Im here ok?

boy, my situation was exactly like chimmer!
the only difference is that i had a biopsy prior to the ablation/tubes tied and my labwork came back Neg! the labwork post ablation, came back cancerous! even my dr was shocked. while it's really important to try and keep all of your original body parts (b/c hormones really effect so much of your health), i would talk to someone about doing a hyst. you could have minimal recovery time if you do it vaginally. if either of you need advice, questions about the surgery or want to talk, let me know. also, a site that really helped finding out about hyst and is light-hearted about it is: www.hystersisters.com .

me? i just had my 6m check up.
they found a 'mass' and did an immediate biopsy/cut it out. ouch!! i'm currently waiting for either a call (bad news) or a letter (good news). i'm regretting having had my ovaries taken out or not having saved & frozen some eggs now that i am going through a divorce. i'm pissed that my husband sat next to me KNOWING he wanted to leave me and made that 'joint' decision. but, i can't take it back. 6m post op, i still have a bit of pain in my lower left side. they said it's most likely adhesions and will just get better over time. sometimes it feels worse than cramps, but i deal with it, it's manageable. i do worry about what it'll be like when i have to go back to work and be on my feet all day, every day. in fact, it's scaring the crap outta me! ;o) where are you in the process?

calilane: I did a search on "adhesions, post-op" and this is just one of the sites it suggests, look into the others also, have good advice: http://forums.obgyn.net/womens-hea...
I opened the site. It is an interesting read. My mother has adhesions from a surgery she had because of a fibroid tumor that made her look 6 months pregnant . . . it still bothers her to this day. I will ask her how many years it is now, but it is many. Each person differs. I hope yours is the better one. There are recommendations as to how to alleviate the adhesions and for those who continue to have them how to alleviate the pain. Do a search on "adhesions, post-op" and look into some of the sites. Perhaps one of their suggestions will help you.

kaplanangel: You are young. I cannot pretend to know the reason they will NOT do the hysterectomy.Ican only think of the reasoning:they may feel you need the natural hormonal processes for some time to come, unless something (God forbid) causes you to really NEED a hysterectomy. For instance, I had my hysterectomy for the bleeding and they found the cancer, but I was already 50. I don't really need my reproductive organs so I am "bleeding" free. But since I had the cancer in my uterus and cervical cancer, they will not give me HRT. Because it could cause cancer. So, being you are young and you do not need any further problems, I feel they will try all they can to help you keep your reproductive organs until you are of an age that you truly do not need them. Am I rambling??? If you can continue to produce the hormones you need to keep you from further complications later, why remove what keeps you healthy in that way, to take something artificial that will cause certain side effects that will be more detrimental to you. Am I saying this correctly? I hope you understood. It is complicated to me and I may not have explained "MY" personal thoughts very clearly.
